Paper trading: limits, stops and targets
Learn how simulated orders reserve buying power, persist until filled or cancelled, and appear on the chart.
Begin with a paper account
PredictionView starts a signed-in paper account with $100,000 in simulated cash. Click YES or NO to open the order ticket, choose Buy or Sell and the quantity, then review the server-verified quote before confirming.
Understand a working limit
A limit buy sets the maximum price per contract; a limit sell sets the minimum. A working order reserves cash or contracts until a complete fill, cancellation or market closure. The paper engine requires visible executable depth for the whole requested quantity. Pending orders appear in the desk and as labeled lines on the chart.
Add exits
A stop loss triggers when the observed executable bid reaches its threshold and then seeks a fill; its execution price can be worse than the trigger. A target is a sell limit. Bracket exits share the same contracts, and a completed leg cancels its sibling. Drag a stop or target line to edit it. If an edit is rejected, the prior level is restored.
Know what is simulated
Background monitoring runs without an open browser: Polymarket uses a public stream with fallback; Kalshi uses book polling. Upstream gaps and interruptions can miss a brief crossing. Optional isolated paper margin reserves collateral and can liquidate a position. Paper fills exclude fees and financing and do not represent an exchange guarantee.
